A Harold “Pinky” Gillum bamboo fly rod, 8’6″, 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Serial #600 The rod weighs 5.4 ounces on my scale. “H.S. Gillum ‘Custom built’ inked on the butt. This rod has been refinished and the choice of thread color isn’t quite accurate. I also suspect that the midsection is a replacement though the butt and tips look original. Flame treated cane. The wraps are eggshell with black/white/black edges at the keeper and male ferrules. Perfection stripper and classic H.S.S. snakes. The ferrules have some wear but do not click. The rod is straight. The grip is 6 1/2” long and styled to a Western with a hidden pocket cap. The seat is an uplock aluminum screwlock with the typical Gillum varnished spacer. The grip is clean though it has been sanded in a lathe and in order to hold the back with a point center a small hole was drilled in the bottom cap. Both the bag and the aluminum tube are non-original.
